When I was asked to illustrate the cover for Carry Slee’s new book, I couldn’t say anything but a wholehearted “yes!”

With a short description of the characters, the setting, and the overall mood as my starting point, I got to create a cover that feels like a hidden object scene — full of subtle references to the story and little details that reveal something new each time you look.

From secret hints to tiny visual cues, I was able to pour all my creativity into it. Every element on the cover is there for a reason — a nod to the plot, a wink to the characters, or just something you might only notice the third time around.
